2007 Awards

The inaugural 2007 Tourism Industry Awards Night proudly supported by Voyages Hotels & Resorts will bring together owners, operators and staff of our major industry of employment for Central Australians for a formal yet relaxed night awarding those in our industry for their exceptional ability and commitment.

This evening will be held at the Alice Springs Convention Centre on Friday 21 September 2007 in dedication to Barry Buchotlz.

'Life member, Barry Bucholtz was a pioneer of the tourism industry in Central Australia for many years. Barry commenced his tourism involvement at Uluru/Ayers Rock in the early 1970’s; he then moved to Alice Springs and continued to expand his interest in retail tourism operations. Barry was pivotal in the amalgamation of the Alice Springs RTA with the Yulara RTA to form the Central Australian Tourism Industry Association (CATIA). Barry became a life member of CATIA and remained a valuable person to the organisation, as well as serving on the board of the NT Tourist Commission during the 1990’s. Barry sadly passed away last year after his battle with Leukemia.’

The Awards Night will consist of a three course dinner, beverages, entertainment and the award presentations. There will also be light hearted fund raising activities with half of the profits from the evening going to the Leukemia Foundation with the other half being put towards next years event. Tickets for the evening will be $80 per person and available from Central Australian Tourism (CATIA) in the upcoming weeks.

How to Enter

The nomination forms and criteria are detailed below and are now awaiting your support for yourself and fellow colleagues within industry. Nomination is simple, fill in the nomination form and select which of the six categories you wish to nominate for. Once this is determined please fill in the appropriate application form for that category and return both nomination & application form to Central Australian Tourism. Applications close on Friday 31 August 2007.
