Rainbow Valley

Description

The Experience

Rainbow Valley Conservation Reserve is located 75 Kilometres south of Alice Springs.

Late afternoon is the best time to view the rainbow bands embedded within the Valley ridge. The bands glow vibrantly when struck by the golden rays of the sun.

Rainbow Valley’s free-standing cliffs form part of the James Range. A marked walking trail takes you to Mushroom Rock, an interesting sandstone formation with Fairy Martin nests attached to the upper walls.

Camping is permitted in the designated area only. Facilities include gas and wood barbecues, picnic tables and a pit toilet. Camping fees are payable on site.
