Central Australia is the birthplace of the contemporary Aboriginal art movement. There are many galleries displaying the works of Aboriginal artists who live and work within the vast Central Australian Region.

Alice Springs is also home to a culturally diverse, innovative and dynamic local arts industry. Artists from a variety of cultural backgrounds work within a contemporary and traditional, visual arts, performance, film, theatre, music, multimedia, sculpture, printmaking, and a variety of innovative, hybrid art forms. There are approximately thirty community arts organisations in Alice Springs with artists working across all art forms.
